Topics include: personal identification; Hong Kong movies; work, leisure, holidays, and special Chinese occasions; Chinese etiquette; health and fitness; at the clinic; describing personal attributes and qualities; interacting in social and work environments; giving opinions, agreeing, and disagreeing; expressing feelings; making encouraging and positive remarks; selected topics catering to the special needs of the students; and subject matters relevant to Hong Kong current affairs (with excerpts from newspapers and magazines).
By the end of the course, you will be able to communicate confidently in Cantonese, using the appropriate level of language, for most social and work related aspects of your daily life in Hong Kong . You will also have had a glimpse into the formal Chinese language used in publications.
