TestDaf
Level : Schedule:
As applicable
  • 2 - 5 times weekly  -  see schedule below

The TestDaf (Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache - Test of German as a Foreign Language) is a language test for learners of German at an intermediate to high level of language proficiency.  It covers levels B2 to C2 of the six-level scale of competence in the Council of Europe's Common European Framework for Modern Languages (CEF). The TestDaf is approved as a language proficiency test for entrance to university and is recognised by every university in Germany. TestDaF 5 (TDN 5) is the highest level. A level of TDN 4 shows that you are linguistically qualified to study at any German university.

Within his/her level, your child will:

  • develop proficiency, fluency, accuracy and confidence;
  • learn to communicate in German appropriately in a range of contexts and for a variety of purposes, including adopting a justified position in discussions and conversations, weighing up alternatives and making hypotheses;
  • extend his/her competence in reading comprehension and writing, including describing, summarizing and comparing data;
  • become familiar with the structure and general content of the examinations through guided practice with sample tests - with appropriate marking and performance reports.

He/she will grow naturally in self-confidence as a result of the experience, and will raise his/her level of German to new heights.

Goethe-Zertifikat A1 to C2, Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom and Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom are official German as a Foreign Language proficiency qualifications. They are recognised worldwide.

Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom (KDS) equates to level C2, the sixth and highest level on the six-level competency scale defined by the Council of Europe's Common European Framework for Modern Languages (CEF).

The Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom (GDS) equates to level C2+ which is beyond the scale and indicates the highest level of language competence one can acquire.

The KDS and GDS allow you to bypass the language entrance examination at universities. Like the TestDaF, they are proof of your German language competency and allow you to study at a German university.

During these courses, your child will be taught the language and examination-specific skills to meet the requirements of these exams.
