French Mother Tongue Support - For native French-speaking children attending a local, ESF or an international school
For native French-speaking children who can understand and/or speak some of the language, with at least one native French-speaking parent, and who follow the local, ESF or international school system (other than French).
According to his/her level, your child will:
- develop in depth his/her language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing, including greater fluency, accuracy and confidence;
- enhance his/her writing and spelling skills, including becoming familiar with writing techniques and styles through essays and stories ;
- become truly proficient in conjugation and grammar;
- enrich his/her knowledge of French culture and gain a cultural awareness of French-speaking countries.
The main emphasis is on ensuring that your child is truly bilingual and in touch with his/her cultural heritage.
Note: these courses are in line with IB philosophy regarding mother tongue support for children schooled in a language other that their mother tongue.
For families living in Discover Bay or Lantau, please see "Les Petits Lascars de DB", a FLAM accredited project which offers after-school French classes for native French-speaking children schooled at Discovery College, Discovery Bay International School or Lantau International School.
