These courses are designed for non-Chinese speaking business people, administrative personnel and professionals who want to learn Mandarin for use in business situations in the office and on business trips.

Courses range from Elementary to Advanced levels and concentrate on equipping you with both the language and behaviour skills that will earn you respect from your business contacts/associates and potential customers.

Each course follows a dynamic, up-to-date Business course book and incorporates supplementary materials to make your learning more varied and interesting. Lessons are practical with language specific to the situations that you will encounter while carrying out business in China, applicable case studies, and plenty of opportunities for language practice.

Level : Exam Options:
Complete / False Beginners  

For business people and professionals who need to improve their language skills to carry out business in China.

At the basic levels, classes include frequent role-plays and conversation-based activities designed to improve your communication skills and confidence in Mandarin for your own work/business experience.

Course contents include:

  • Meeting people and exchanging information
  • Nationalities and countries
  • Jobs and responsibilities
  • Numbers, times, days of the week, months of the year
  • Making telephone calls and arrangements
  • Where? When? What? Who?
  • Socialising
  • Talking about you and your company
  • Describing and comparing products and services
  • Business travel
  • Checking in at the hotel
  • Polite requests and complaints
  • Getting around and directions
  • Visiting a company / factory
  • Eating out ~ a business lunch
  • Chinese etiquette
  • Thanking a host ~ making a toast
  • Saying goodbye

At the higher levels, classes focus more on developing your level of proficiency for a wide variety of business situations, using the appropriate level of language, so as to facilitate your access to the negotiation table.

Course contents may vary according to the needs and requirements of each group or individual, and include such subjects as:

  • Initiating contacts
  • Negotiating
  • Tackling problems
  • Ordering, packaging, transporting and custom issue
  • Attending or hosting business meetings
  • Presenting facts and figures
  • Contract signing / bidding
  • Entertaining and socialising
  • Attending formal gatherings ~ Chinese etiquette
  • Discussing business, cultural and social topics

About 1 - 2 years of Mandarin
