Course content:

  • Describing a place and location 
  • Going out
  • Shopping 

By the end of the course, you will have a basic ability to communicate in Japanese to ask and answer simple questions and to meet most of your basic daily needs.

 

Elementary
Level : Exam Options:
False Beginners  

For false beginners who already have a basic foundation in Japanese.

Course content:

  • Meeting people
  • Speaking about yourself and your family
  • Jobs and occupations
  • Telephoning and making appointments 
  • Going places, asking for and giving directions 
  • Transport
  • Leisure activities and sports
  • Likes, dislikes, and preferences
  • Describing feelings and personal attributes
  • Food and drink - eating out 
  • Invitations 
  • Giving and receiving 
  • Requests and refusals and polite social talk.

By the end of the course, you will be able to communicate effectively in Japanese in a broad range of everyday social and work related situations and to socialise with friends, colleagues or clients.

Intermediate
Level : Exam Options:
About 1 year of Japanese  

For people with 1 year previous study of Japanese - able to hold a (simple) conversation on various aspects of their daily life.

Course content:

  • Education and work 
  • Describing location and surroundings 
  • Holidays, travel and staying at a hotel
  • Courteous expressions and their appropriate use 
  • Interacting in social and work environments 
  • Giving opinions, agreeing and disagreeing

  • Discussing future plans 
  • Expressing feelings / wishes
  • Expressing preferences and giving reasons
  • Entertainment and special occasions 
  • Japanese etiquette.

By the end of the course, you will have extended your vocabulary, increased our listening comprehension skills, strongly developed your self-confidence and fluency, and be able to communicate confidently in Japanese, using the appropriate level of language, for most social and work related aspects of your daily life.

Upper-Intermediate
Level : Exam Options:
About 2 years of Japanese  

For people with 2 years previous study of Japanese - who already have a solid grasp of Japanese and are confident in using it in everyday contexts and who wish to develop more advanced conversational skills.

Crash Course

Recommended if you are planning a trip to Japan  

Have you ever found yourself somewhere in Japan and wished that you could speak at least enough Japanese to communicate with the locals, or to socialise with potential business partners, colleagues or clients? If so, this is the course for YOU!

The ultimate objective of our crash course is for you to be able to obtain any information that you need, and to communicate what you want as quickly and effectively as possible.

Conversation Course
Level : Exam Options:
For people who want to improve their fluency and increase their self-confidence in Japanese  

For people who want to improve their fluency and increase their self-confidence in Japanese.

You can choose either to join the programme to complement your general Japanese course, or as a stand- alone course. Different levels are available to match any level of ability from Elementary 1 through to Upper-Intermediate level.

At the basic levels, classes include a mix of activities ranging from listening comprehension exercises, role-plays and topic work through to group discussions, all designed to improve your oral Japanese communication skills and confidence.

At the higher levels, classes focus more on group interaction through debates and discussions on chosen topics and contemporary issues, with the aim of encouraging everyone to be more vocal, while learning to express his/her views fluently and coherently.
