These are held on a regular basis in the evening and provide you with the chance for further French practice in a friendly, relaxed environment. Workshops will change from month to month, and will include activities such as discussions, debates, quiz nights, board games, films, language lab practice, free talk, karaoke, and more! General French Courses

Our General French courses are designed for adults who want to use French fluently and accurately in a wide range of real-life situations through our proven methodology.

The courses are in line with the Council of Europe's Common European Framework for Modern Languages (CEF), allowing you to chart every step of your progress and work towards internationally recognised benchmarks and examinations.

Each course follows a dynamic course book and incorporates supplementary materials to make your learning experience more interesting. Our classes employ a modern communicative approach with plenty of opportunities to practise through interactive oral activities and role-plays. 

Foundation [CEF]

Complete Beginners N/A

For complete beginners.

Course content:

  • Greetings and basic conversation
  • Nationalities and countries
  • Jobs and occupations
  • Leisure and hobbies
  • Likes and dislikes
  • Numbers, times, days of the week, months of the year

By the end of the course, you will have a basic ability to communicate in French, to ask and answer simple questions and to handle some simple everyday tasks.

Elementary [CEF]

False Beginners DELF A1

For false beginners who already have a basic foundation in French.

Course content:

  • Speaking about yourself and your family
  • Describing personal attributes and qualities
  • Jobs and occupations
  • Leisure, sports, and hobbies
  • Likes and dislikes
  • Describing feelings
  • Going to a restaurant - food and drink
  • Weather and clothes
  • Shopping
  • Going places, making travel arrangements, and transport
  • Asking for and giving directions
  • Talking about the past and the future and socialising

By the end of the course, you will be able to communicate efficiently in French in most social situations, i.e. able to obtain any information that you need, and to express what you want as quickly and as effectively as possible.

Intermediate

About 1 year of French DELF A2

For people with 1-2 years previous study of French (or school French) - able to hold a (simple) conversation on various aspects of their daily life.

Course content:

  • Expressing feelings
  • Interacting in social environments
  • Discussing plans
  • Giving opinions, agreeing and disagreeing
  • Discussing needs and obligations

By the end of the course, you will have extended your vocabulary, increased your listening comprehension skills, strongly developed your self-confidence and fluency, and be able to communicate confidently in French for most situations that you encounter in your daily life.

Upper-Intermediate

For people with 3 years previous study of French - able to speak confidently in most aspects of their daily life.

Course content depends upon the needs and interests of each group or individual and may include:

  • Discussing art and literature, and giving opinions
  • Interacting in social environments
  • Polite requests and offers
  • Manners, etiquette, customs, and national characteristics
  • Describing your career
  • Writing formal and informal letters

By the end of the course, you will have extended your vocabulary, developed your skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking, and be able to converse with a high degree of fluency and confidence in French in most social and work related contexts.

Higher, Superior & Mastery
Level : Exam Options:
4 or more years of French DALF C1 & C2

For people with 4 years or more previous study of French (about 400+ hours).

If you wish to extend your proficiency in more specific areas whether for either academic or professional purposes, these courses are what you need to help you achieve your goals.

Course contents vary according to the requirements and areas of interest of each group or individual, and include such subjects as:

  • Art and culture
  • French history and traditions
  • Science and technology
  • News and current affairs
  • Economics, political, and social trends
  • Contemporary issues

Lessons make use of an extensive range of authentic materials, taken from a wide variety of sources, designed with your particular needs in mind.

Crash Course

Are you planning a trip to France? Have you ever found yourself touring in France, sitting in a beautiful restaurant or on the terrace of a café, watching the passers by and wishing that you could speak at least enough French to communicate in the shops, and place an order in a restaurant?

If so, this is the course for YOU!

The ultimate objective of our crash course is for you to be able to obtain any information that you need, and to communicate what you want as quickly and as effectively as possible.

  • Numbers, days of the week, months of the year, and dates
  • Telling the time and daily routines
  • Interests and leisure activities
  • Likes and dislikes

By the end of the course, you will be equipped to communicate in French in a variety of everyday situations, and to meet most of your basic daily needs, such as: talking about yourself; sightseeing; finding your way around (including taking the Métro or the train); ordering meals; communicating at your hotel, tourist information office, train station, and in shops.

Conversation Course

For people who want to improve their fluency and increase their self-confidence in French.

You can choose either to join the programme to complement your general French course, or as a stand- alone course. Different levels are available to match any level of ability from Elementary 1 through to Advanced level.

At the basic levels, classes include a mix of activities ranging from listening comprehension exercises, role-plays and topic work through to group discussions, all designed to improve your oral French communication skills and confidence.

At the higher levels, classes focus more on group interaction through debates and discussions on chosen topics and contemporary issues, with the aim of encouraging everyone to be more vocal, while learning to express his/her views fluently and coherently.
